Women's Rowing Welcomes Amy Weatherby

Boston College Women's Rowing welcomed Amy Weatherby this fall as assistant coach for the 2009-2010 season. She joins the Eagles from National Cathedral High School, where she served as head coach of the rowing team and designed a training program for varsity and novice athletes in the winter through spring seasons. She specifically emphasized the development of mental toughness and mental training. She coached the rowing team to gold at the Virginia State Scholastic Championship in the 1V and silver in the 2V event. Weatherby won multiple dual and tri meets in her tenure at National Cathedral.
This past summer 2009, Weatherby was the U.S. Rowing Senior/U23/Lightweight Development Camp Assistant Coach at the Thompson Boat Center on the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. She worked with high level collegiate and post collegiate athletes and trained athletes for competition at the U.S. Rowing Nationals and Canadian Henley in the 2-. 4+, 4-, 8+.
Prior to the summer, Weatherby was head coach of the Thompson Boat Center Junior Women and designed a comprehensive training program for more than 40 athletes. In 2008, her team's notable accomplishments include earning silver in the Women's Junior A 8+, bronze in the Women's Junior A 4+, silver in the Women's Junior B 8+, gold and bronze in the Women's Junior B 4+ at USRowing Club Nationals, and a 17th place finish at the prestigious Head of the Charles in the Youth 8+.
While at the Thompson Boat Center, she also served as Assistant Program Director in 2008.
From the fall of 2004 to the spring of 2007, Weatherby served as the Walt Whitman High School freshman girls rowing coach.
She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2004 with a B.S. in Psychology. At Wisconsin, she was a four year member of the rowing team. Weatherby stroked the Freshman 8 crew that won the Big Ten Championship in 2000. She also won the silver at Eastern Sprints in the varsity four in 2001.
Prior to Wisconsin, Weatherby attended Walt Whitman High School and rowed on the Varsity 8+ crew. She helped the team win the National Capital Championship in 1999.
