Orono, Maine - The Boston College women's cross country team, led by freshman Jillian King, turned in its third straight first-place finish to start the 2009 season with a win at the Murray Keatinge Invitational on October 3. The Eagles had five runners place in the top 10, and four runners place in the top eight spots. The meet featured six different schools.
The Eagles won the meet with 23 points. Host school Maine finished with 60 points, which was good enough for second place. Saint Francis Xavier came in third place with 73 points, while Dalhousie and Holy Cross finished fourth and fifth respectively with 103 and 122 points.
This meet featured an effective mix of upperclassmen and freshman for Boston College. King crossed the line in first place with a time of 17:09, while senior Gretchen Andrus finished in fourth place with a time of 17:36. Senior Lauren Johnston had a solid day as well for the Eagles as she finished in ninth place with a time of 17:49.
Two more freshmen rounded out the top 10 as Grace Rodriguez came in sixth place with a time of 17:44, and classmate Adrienne McGuirk crossed the line in seventh place with a time of 17:48.
BC will be back in action next weekend at the Penn State Invitational which will be held on October 16 in University Park, PA.
