Cross Country Comes In Second Place At New England's

Boston, Mass. - The Boston College women's cross country team, led by freshman Elizabeth Hynes, turned in a second place finish with 170 points at the New England Championships. The meet featured 49 different teams from around New England, and it was held at Franklin Park. The Eagles had three runners place in the top 30, and five runners place in the top 60.
Brown University won the meet with 130 points. Another Ivy League school in Dartmouth finished with 201 points, which was good enough for third place. MIT came in fourth place with 217 points. University of New Hampshire rounded out the top five with 225 points.
This meet once again featured an effective mix of upperclassmen and freshman for Boston College. Hynes crossed the line in ninth place with a time of 18:16, while senior Kelly Gross finished in 22nd place with a time of 18:30. Gross's classmate Samantha Gawrych had a solid day as well for the Eagles as she finished in 27th place with a time of 18:35.
Two more freshmen rounded out the Eagles top performers as Moira Kenny came in 59th place with a time of 18:57, and classmate Allison Stasiuk crossed the line in 81st place with a time of 19:14.
BC will be back in action next weekend at the Penn State Invitational which will be held on October 16 in University Park, PA.
