NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sophomore RB Montel Harris has been named the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Offensive Player of the Week.
Harris set new Boston College single-game records with 264 rushing yards and five touchdowns in Saturday's win against NC State. He broke Phil Bennett's record of 253 yards which he achieved against Temple on September 23, 1972. The previous record for rushing touchdowns in a game at BC was four set by 10 different people, but last by Darnell Campbell on September 25, 1993 also against the Owls.
Harris' day was the best rushing performance in the Bowl Subdivision this year as he topped UTEP's Donald Buckram who rushed for 262 yards on October 3. Harris also tied Jahvid Best of California and Mike Bell of Nevada for the most points in a single game this season with 30.
Harris and the Eagles reclaimed first place in the ACC Atlantic Division with their 52-20 win against the Wolfpack. Boston College will now prepare for Notre Dame on October 24.
