The Boston College women's rowing team began its fall season on Sunday, October 11 at the New Hampshire Championships on the Merrimack River in Pembroke, N.H. This was BC's first time racing in this regatta.
The Eagles entered five boats in the regatta - three boats in the Women's Open 4+, Race 28, and two boats in the Women's Open 8+, Race 38.
Boston College's B boat took first place in the Women's Open 4+ with a time of 16:56.29. BC's C boat followed in fifth place with a time of 17:38.23. The Eagles' A boat finished in ninth place in 17:59.75.
In the Women's Open 8+ Boston College's A boat captured fourth place behind Radcliffe, in a time of 15:53.23. BC's B boat finished in seventh place with a time of 16:01.47.
"We raced reasonably well," said head coach Steve Fiske. "But we believe there is potential for more speed in all boats. It was fun to have a four win and also to have two 8's that were virtually the same speed. [The regatta] is a good tune up for the Head of the Charles."
The Eagles continue their fall season on Saturday, October 17, at the Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River in Boston, Mass.
