Volleyball falls to Kent State in Colgate Classic

HAMILTON, N.Y. - After defeating West Virginia in the first game of the Colgate Classic on Friday night, the Eagles were unable to pull out a victory in their second game against Kent State, suffering a 3-1 defeat at Cotterell Court.
The loss drops BC to 1-1 on the season, while the Golden Flashes improve to 1-1.
The Eagles struggled on the offensive attack, managing a .014 attack percentage against Kent State. The Golden Flashes registered a .160 percentage on their attacks for the game.
In the first set, the Eagles maintained a slim lead until a kill by Tori Thompson, followed by an attack error by Kent State gave BC a 25-22 victory.
The second set was tough for the BC attack, and the Eagles could not overcome 11 attack errors and a hitting percentage of -.027, losing the set 25-20.
The Golden Flashes continued their strong play in the third set, registering an attack percentage of .270. With the set close at 12-10 in their favor, Kent State used a 12-3 run to pull away for an eventual 25-14 win.
In the final set, the Eagles led 6-3 in the early going before Kent State rattled off seven straight points to take the lead for good. They would go on to win the set 25-19.
On offense, the Eagles were led by Jordan Meredith, who tallied 11 kills. Setter Dani Moskitis registered 21 assists.
Freshman Brennan Clark had 14 digs to lead BC on defense, while classmate Mollie Kolosky contributed 4 blocks.
BC is back in action tonight, Saturday, Aug. 30, to close out the round-robin event against host Colgate. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
