Boston College football coach Jeff Jagodzinski met with members of the media Thursday afternoon for the final time before the Eagles leave to play Kent State in the 2008 season opener. Kickoff for Saturday's game at Cleveland Browns Stadium is 7:34 p.m. It will be televised by ESPNU.
"I'm excited about this football team, but I don't know what they are yet as a team," Jagodzinski said. "But we're about to find out. We're excited to go kick off the season against Kent State."
Jagodzinski announced that redshirt freshman wide receiver Dominick Magazu has transferred to Appalachian State in order to be closer to home. Jagodzinski has awarded the extra scholarship to former walk-on Mike Morrissey, a sophomore linebacker who is actually listed on the Eagles' two-deep this week as backup to Brian Toal.
"That's one of the best parts of this job, seeing a kid develop, and work hard, and really contribute to the team," Jagodzinski said. "We don't just give scholarships away to anyone; Mike really earned it."
The Eagles will participate in a walk-through in Alumni Stadium Friday afternoon before boarding buses late in the day for their charter flight to Cleveland.
