Belfiore and Campbell Earn 2008 NEIBA Accolades

MEDFORD, Mass. - Twenty-seven players from 12 teams were named to the 2008 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association's All-New England Division first and second teams, announced yesterday. Boston College's Michael Belfiore was selected to the first team as a relief pitcher, while Eric Campbell earned second-team accolades as a third baseman.
Belfiore was selected as the only relief pitcher on the first team. The left-handed sophomore posted a 2-0 record with a team-high eight saves out of the BC bullpen. He recorded a 2.45 ERA by only allowing five earned runs in 18.1 innings. The southpaw surrendered 17 hits, just two for extra-bases, and held opponents to a .243 batting average.
Campbell was named to the Brooks Wallace Pre-Season Watch List and served as team co-captain. The junior started and batted cleanup in all 53 games this season. He finished first on the team in doubles (18), multi-RBI games (12) and second on the team in hits (64) and RBIs (41). He tied for second on team in batting average (.306), home runs (6) and multi-hit games (15).
