
Men's Tennis Captures First ACC Victory

CLEMSON, S.C. - Boston College earned its first ACC win since joining the conference with a 4-3 victory against No. 62 Clemson on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles split the weekend in ACC competition when they fell to No. 50 Georgia Tech, 6-1 on Friday evening. With the weekend split, the Eagles are now 8-13 overall and 1-8 in the ACC.
Boston College 4, Clemson 3
The Eagles took four out of six singles matches in their first ever ACC victory. Thomas Nolan defeated No. 122 Gera Borvachinskiy, 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 2 singles spot.
Jason Sechrist and Brendon Wong each won crucial three-set decisions. Sechrist won at the No. 3 position over Ike Belk, 6-5, 2-6 and 6-3. Wong defeated Kevin Galloway at the No. 5 spot, 4-6, 6-2 and 6-4.
Brian Locklear rounded out the singles wins for the Eagles at the No. 6 position. He defeated Tino Elgne, 6-4, 7-5.
BC managed to take just one of the three doubles matches. Thomas Nolan and Adam Davison won at the No. 3 position against Gera Borvachinskiy and Kevin Galloway, 8-4.
Georgia Tech 6, Boston College 1
The Yellow Jackets took all three doubles matches and won five of six singles matches to defeat the Eagles, 6-1.
Sechrist defeated Scott Blackmon at the No. 3 singles position in three sets, 6-1, 3-6 and 6-2.
Erik Kreutzer and Locklear each played tough matches, but dropped both decisions. Kreutzer lost at the No. 4 singles position to Ryan Smith, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. Locklear fell 5-7, 7-5, 10-8 in a third-set tie breaker to Doug Kenny at the No. 6 position.
The Eagles are back on the tennis court Friday at 3 p.m. in Chestnut Hill, Mass., against Miami.
