The BC football team returned to the practice field Tuesday afternoon for the first of two practices this week. The Eagles will scrimmage this coming Saturday, then practice twice next week in preparation for the annual Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Game at 1 p.m. on April 26.
After redshirting last season with an injury, senior linebacker Brian Toal has returned to full action this spring. Today, Toal talked about how he's feeling, what expectations he has for the spring and what he expects from the incoming freshman class.
Q: How are you feeling?
A: Health-wise, I'm 100%. It's really good just to be able to be back on the field. And I definitely think I'm where I need to be right now to perform my best in practice. I have no injuries so I'm excited about the spring and what it means for my future.
Q: What have you enjoyed most about spring practice?
A: Really just being able to be back out on the field with my teammates. It's been a while since the last time I was out there, especially not playing last year. Being out there and playing with them is a lot of fun and I'm very excited about it.
Q: What were your personal expectations heading into spring ball?
A: My main goal is just to improve at every practice. I want to be at exactly where I need to be going into the summer workouts and continue to get better over the summer. We have a tough ACC schedule in front of us and I want to be at my best when that time comes.
Q: Any thoughts on the new class coming in?
A: I'm definitely excited about them. A couple of them are here already and it's great to see them out at practice, working hard with us. They've gone through the winter workouts and spring ball, so they're definitely going to be well prepared. I heard that rest of them are supposed to be a really good class, so we'll see what happens when all of them get here.
