Senior quarterback Chris Crane completed 12-of-23 passes for 132 yards with one touchdown as the Boston College football team held the first of three spring intrasquad scrimmages Thursday afternoon in Alumni Stadium. The scrimmage, originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, was moved to Sunday due to expected bad weather over the weekend.
Redshirt freshman QB Dominique Davis also led the BC offense through several series, completing 7-of-13 passes for 72 yards. Redshirt freshman Chris Johnson completed 2-of-3 passes for 47 yards. Sophomore Ifeanyi Momah led all receivers with four catches for 76 yards.
Redshirt freshman running back Dan Mulrooney led all Eagles in rushing, carrying the ball 19 times for 52 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore fullback James McCluskey had 13 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown while freshman Josh Haden had 10 carries for 20 yards.
On defense, senior Brian Toal turned in a strong performance in his first scrimmage since returning from his medical redshirt year with six tackles. Sophomore Mike Morrissey and junior Mike McLaughlin also contributed six tackles apiece. True freshmen Max Holloway and Donnie Fletcher also impressed. Holloway totaled four tackles and sacked the quarterback two times. Fletcher tallied three tackles and brought in an interception.
The Eagles will scrimmage one last time, a week from Saturday. Spring practice will conclude with the annual Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Game, which will kick off at 1 p.m. on April 26.
