Softball Drops Final Game of NIST

Hayward, Calif. - The Boston College softball team (9-13, 0-0 ACC) dropped its final game of the NIST to Nevada (16-8, 0-0 WAC) by a score of 9-1 in five innings at the Alden E. Oliver Sports Park Sunday.
Senior Amanda Booth flied out in the bottom of the fifth inning to tally BC's lone run, earning her fourth RBI of the season. Freshman Allie Thunstrom scored on the play after reaching third base on senior Carley McNary's single, her sixth hit of the season.
Nevada's Katie Holverson (8-4) picked up the win, allowing just two hits in the five innings. Eagles' freshman Allison Gage (4-9) got the start and pitched the first three innings, allowing five hits and four earned runs while striking out one. The Wolfpack scored one run in the top of the first inning and then rallied for eight runs in the top of the eighth inning. Sophomore Taylor Peyton came in to relieve Gage. She faced the final nine batters, allowing three runs on two hits. Nevada's eight-run inning sealed its 9-1 victory.
The Eagles will begin ACC action next weekend when they travel to NC State for a three-game series beginning Saturday, March 15.
