Softball Drops Rubber Match With Florida State

Tallahassee, Fla. - The Boston College softball team (19-17, 2-4 ACC) collected four hits but were unable to tally any runs in the final contest of the three-game series against Florida State (29-13, 6-3 ACC), falling 6-0 on Sunday afternoon at JoAnne Graf Field.
Junior Renee Ramos and sophomore Amy Tunstall each collected two hits in the game. With those hits, Ramos now leads the team and ranks within the top ten of the ACC with 38 hits on the season. Tunstall has recorded 24 hits.
Florida State-6, BC-0-- Sophomore Taylor Peyton (11-6) got the start in the rubber match but picked up the loss. After Florida State drove in three runs in the bottom of the second inning, freshman Allison Gage came in to pitch the rest of the game in relief. She pitched 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on four hits, while striking out two.
The Seminoles held a tight 3-0 lead until the bottom of the sixth inning, where they were able to score three additional runs off three hits. Florida State pitcher Tiffany McDonald (13-3) earned her second win in two days against BC, helping her team to the final 6-0 victory.
The Eagles return north to compete in a regional match-up, traveling to Connecticut for a mid-week contest on Wednesday, April 2. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Connecticut Softball Field in Storrs, Conn.
