Softball Splits Day One Of FGCU Tournament

Fort Myers, Fla. - In their first day of tournament action, the Boston College softball team (3-4, 0-0 ACC) split decisions with a win over St. Bonaventure (1-1), 3-1, and a 2-0 loss to invitational host Florida Gulf Coast (7-5).
Junior Renee Ramos had three hits on the day, picking up her first RBI of the season. Sophomore pitcher Taylor Peyton pitched a complete game against St Bonaventure, allowing just three hits .
BC-3, St. Bonaventure-1-- Sophomore Taylor Peyton (1-1) got the start for the Eagles against the Bonnies. BC struck first in the third inning, when sophomore Blair Destito, who led off the inning with a single, scored on a fielder's choice. In the fourth inning, BC scored again. Sophomore Amy Tunstall started off the inning by reaching base on an error by the centerfielder. Ramos drove Tunstall home with a double to center. In the fifth inning, the Eagles got their third run from a single by Peyton, who scored senior Carley McNary. St. Bonaventure got their only run in the sixth inning.
FGCU 2, BC 0-- Allison Gage (1-3) got her third start of the season, pitching five solid innings. In five innings, she allowed six hits on two earned runs, one coming in the fifth and again in the sixth. Boston College picked up five hits in the game, with two coming from junior Renee Ramos. The Eagles were unable to put a run on the board, dropping their second game of the day.
The Eagles will face South Dakota State tomorrow at 11 a.m. and then Western Carolina at 3 p.m. in the second day of tournament action.
