Softball Places Second At Pirate Invitational

Greenville, N.C. - The Boston College softball team (2-3, 0-0 ACC) couldn't get their offense going in the championship game of the East Carolina Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C., losing to tournament host East Carolina (9-2) by a score of 6-0 on Sunday.
The Eagles collected three hits in the game from sophomores Taylor Peyton and Dani Weir. Freshman Carolyn Jones got her third collegiate hit in the second inning. Peyton, who came in to pitch during the third inning, only allowed one run on two hits. Freshman Allison Gage (1-2) got her second start of the season, allowing three runs on seven hits.
East Carolina junior Brooke Swann (4-1) picked up the win, allowing three hits and striking out three. The Pirates put the first run on the board in the first inning, drove in four runs in the fourth inning and tacked on one more run in the fifth. Senior second baseman Erin St. Ledger had three RBIs on the day.
The Eagles will continue spring tournament action next weekend when they travel to Fort Myers, Fla. to compete in Florida Gulf Coast's Spring Break Classic. The Eagles will play against St. Bonaventure at 4 p.m. and Florida Gulf Coast at 8 p.m. on Feb. 22.
