
Volleyball Suffers 3-0 Defeat to Virginia

Freshman Tsvetelina Dureva led Boston College with 11 kills, but Virginia beat the Eagles on the strength of their attack, committing just 11 errors in a 3-0 victory at Memorial Gymnasium. The Cavaliers won with set scores of 25-14, 25-19, and 25-18.
With the loss, the Eagles dropped to 7-22 overall (1-16 ACC) while the Cavaliers improved to 16-13 (8-9 ACC).
BC scored four consecutive points in the first set, capped off by a Dani Moskitis service ace to cut Virginia's lead to 16-14. But the Cavaliers ran off nine consecutive points to close out the set.
The Eagles were down just 16-15 in the second set after two consecutive kills by Dureva, but Virginia used a 6-0 run to build a comfortable margin in the frame. BC responded with a 4-0 run, capped off by two more kills by Dureva, but the Cavaliers would win the next three points for a 25-19 victory.
After the teams traded points in the early stages of the third set, Virginia opened up a 20-13 lead before closing out the match.
Dani Moskitis had 21 assists and two service aces, and Brennan Clark and Kristen Baader each had six digs to lead the Eagles.
The Eagles will be back in action on their final road trip of the season, beginning with a match at Georgia Tech next Friday at 7 pm.
