Football Defeats NC State, 38-31
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior QB Chris Crane was named the ACC Offensive Back of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 38-31 win at NC State. He set career highs with 428 yards on 34-of-51 passing and two touchdowns. Crane also ran for three scores, including the game-winning touchdown with 22.8 seconds left.
Crane accounted for all five of the Eagles' touchdowns in Raleigh and 470 of BC's 578 total net yards. The Wolfpack tied the game in the fourth quarter and with 3:24 remaining, Crane led the offense on a seven-play, 70-yard drive highlighted by a 36-yard completion to redshirt freshman TE Lars Anderson.
Crane's performance on Saturday has found a place in the Boston College record books. His 470 yards of total offense is the third-largest number in Eagles' history. Only the legendary Doug Flutie had more total yards in a game as he had 517 against Miami in 1984 and 507 against Penn State in 1982.
His 428 passing yards are the seventh-most in a single game and the 62 snaps he took are the fourth most all-time. Crane's 34 completions are ranked fourth on the all-time ledger in a single game while his 51 attempts are ninth.
Other ACC award winners included Florida State's Rodney Hudson (offensive lineman) and Tony Carter (defensive back), Virginia's Clint Sintim (defensive lineman), North Carolina's Bruce Carter (specialist), and Georgia Tech's Jaybo Shaw (rookie).
