The Boston College volleyball team put in a strong performance against Georgia Tech, but was unable to capitalize on set leads, falling 3-0 to the Yellow Jackets at Power Gym.
With the loss, the Eagles fell to 6-15 (0-9 ACC) while the Yellow Jackets improved to 14-5 (6-3 ACC) after their third straight win.
The Eagles fell behind in the first set by six points, trailing 14-8, before rallying to close within two at 19-17 after a nifty kill on a second hit by setter Brittany Pierpont. BC stayed close due in large part to two kills by Taylor Williams, trailing 22-20, before Georgia Tech won three of the next five points for a 25-22 set victory.
BC took a 9-8 lead in the next set after a kill by Mollie Kolosky, but Georgia Tech seized the momentum with a 14-4 run, including a stretch in which they won seven straight points. The Yellow Jackets would go on to win the set 25-16.
The Eagles played a spirited third set, registering more kills than Georgia Tech (15-14), with a better hitting percentage, (.265-.111). BC had a chance to close out the set, leading 25-24, but Georgia Tech won the point, and held serve to close out the set, 27-25.
Leading the way for BC was Brittany Pierpont, who had another strong performance with six kills and no errors for an attack percentage of .667, to go along with 22 assists and seven digs.
Jordan Meredith led the BC attack with eight kills, and Taylor Williams had three service aces to lead the Eagles in that category.
BC will head back on the road to face Wake Forest on Oct. 24 at 7 pm.
