Chestnut Hill, MA - On Saturday, October 8 the long wait was finally over as the Boston College Women's Rowing team moved into their new home, the Harry Parker Boathouse.
The new boathouse is 30,000 sq. ft., with functional space to be used for indoor rowing machines and a weight training room. The facility is equipped with locker rooms, including showers, restrooms, and changing/locker space. Additional space consists of meeting rooms and classrooms, as well as coach and administrative offices.
Anmahian Winton Architects, the designers of Boston College's new facility, earned two awards for their innovative work. Architect Magazine honored the new structure as a smart and progressive design with its "P/A Award." Consequently, the Chicago Athenum Museum of Architecture and Design presented the architects with "The American Architecture Award for 2008" in praise of the building's cutting-edge characteristics.
Boston College Rowing shares this impressive home with Community Rowing Inc. They are hosting a dedication ceremony for the boathouse on Thursday, October 16 at 5 pm.
