Women's Cross Country Crowned New England Champions

BOSTON, Mass. - Boston College's five scoring runners all finished in the top 12 overall as the women's cross country team won the New England Championship at Franklin Park on October 11. Senior Nichole Lister led BC as she finished in fourth with a time of 17:50.
It is the Eagles' first New England title since 2002. Boston College scored 38 points in the event while Brown came in second with a total of 141 points. Williams, Dartmouth, and Boston University rounded out the top five. BC's 103-point margin of victory is the largest in the event since 1997 and its team score is the best since 2000.
Junior Brielle Chabot finished second for the Eagles and fifth overall with a time of 17:56. Senior Mallory Champa also secured a top 10 finish, crossing the line in 18:03 to place eighth.
Junior Lauren Johnston placed 10th overall, clocking in at 18:08 and graduate student Mary Heitkamp finished in 18:11 which put her in 11th overall.
Sophomore Caroline King finished 13th overall with a time of 18:20 and graduate student Nikki Tufts crossed the line in 21:37.
The Eagles will head to the University of Arkansas to take part in the Chile Pepper Invitational next Saturday.
