Newton, Mass. - Junior Paul Gerstenberger scored the game's first goal - at 42:25 - but Quinnipiac countered with two second-half scores and held on to defeat Boston College, 2-1.
The Eagles (1-1) outshot Quinnipiac, 31-6 and recorded an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Gerstenberger netted his first collegiate goal off a direct kick from just a few feet outside the 18-yard box. Midfielder Alejandro Bedoya had been hauled down and Gerstenberger sent a low, left-footed shot into the left side of the net.
Quinnipiac junior Graciano Brito scored one goal and assisted on freshman Nick Pelicaen's go-ahead goal in the 67th minute to lead the visiting Bobcats (2-0) to the victory.
Brito tied the score at 1-1 at 58:36, then set up the gamewinner after his initial strike was stopped by BC goalkeeper Chris Brown and the rebound was knocked in by Pelicaen for his first collegiate score.
Sophomore goalkeeper Freddy Hall made 10 saves to earn the victory.
Midfielder Reuben Ayarna recorded a game-high seven shots and Bedoya totaled six shots to lead the BC attack.
Brown finished with four saves, including a save off a Brito breakaway in the 58th minute.
Next, Boston College will host Fairfield on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. A video broadcast of that game will be available over the web at accselect.com.
