Women's Softball Adds Jill Karwoski to Coaching Staff

Chestnut Hill, Mass.-- Jill Karwoski, a former Division II softball standout and head coach of Morehead State University, has been hired as an assistant coach, according to an announcement made by Eagles head coach Jennifer Finley.
"We are very pleased to have Jill Karwoski join us here at Boston College," said Finley. "With her experience and knowledge, I know Jill will make an immediate impact on our softball program and help us succeed."
Karwoski joins the Eagles softball staff after spending three years as head coach at Morehead State University in Morehead, Ky. There she led the program to its best overall record since 1999. Her team's were also able to compile a school record for most strikeouts (278), set a school record of highest fielding percentage (.961) and tie the single-season mark of most wins.
"I am excited at the opportunity to join Coach Finley as she looks to make a mark in the ACC this year," said Kaworski. "I knew right away that this is a program in which I can feel comfortable expressing my coaching philosophy and ideas in an effort to help them achieve their goals. This program is rich in tradition and has a solid foundation in which I will embrace and look to further its successes."
Beginning her coaching career as a Graduate Assistant at Morehead State from 2001-2003, Karwoski took over the Morehead State program in 2004. She was a Division II softball standout at Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill., where she earned multiple Great Lakes Valley Conference Academic All-Conference honors. She earned Most Valuable Player in 1999 and 2001 along with Gold Glove awards in 2000 and 2001.
A native of Cary, Ill.; Karwoski will officially come to the Heights on Sept. 24, 2007.
