Five Boston College women's rowers were named to the All-ACC Academic Rowing Team. Boston College's outgoing senior captains Claire Arpin and Bridget Regan were named to their second All-ACC academic teams. Arpin graduated in May with an economics degree. Regan, who was also named to the All-ACC team, graduated as a history major.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Joining the captains on the list are graduated senior Elizabeth Orofino, and sophomores Tracy Maciolek and Lauren O'Leary.
The Eagles' five All-ACC Academic Team selections place Boston College behind the 10 rowers from University of Virginia and six from North Carolina on the list.
Arpin, Regan, Orofino, and Maciolek all earned Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar Athlete honors earlier in the summer. Also receiving honors from the CRCA was junior Patton Hindle.
In all, this year's All-ACC Academic Rowing Team includes a trio from the NCAA Varsity Four championship boat, three All-Americans, 18 CRCA National Scholar Athletes, five CRCA All-Region honorees, 11 All-ACC performers, and six members of the ACC Crew of the Year (Virginia's First Varsity Eight).
The Eagles placed fifth in the 2007 ACC Rowing Championships. They will hit the water again October 20-21 at the Head of Charles Regatta on the Charles River in Boston.
