Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College suffered its second straight dramatic loss to Maryland in a 3-2 loss in the final game of the three-game series this past weekend.
Maryland's Lindsay drove in two runs in the bottom of the sixth to help the Terps improve to 32-24 overall and 8-12 in the ACC. The Eagles are now 14-29 overall and 4-15 in the ACC.
The Eagles cored first in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Britney Thompson which scored Jenna Macchi. Maryland responded in the bottom of the inning. Amber Jackson singled up the middle to break up Thompson's no-hitter in the fourth, and Jackson moved to third on a bunt by Jenny Belak and a throwing error by the BC catcher. Klein's first single of the game scored Jackson and evened the game at one.
Again it was the Eagles seniors leading the way. Macchi and Thompson each hit singles. With runners on first and third, Macchi scored off a wild pitch from reliefe pitcher Abbey Welch.
With the Terps trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Jackson singled again, and then stole second to get into scoring position. Keri Lounge walked to put Klein at the plate again. The senior responded with another single, this one to center field, and Jackson scored from second to tie the game at two.
Jennifer Wellborn hit a pop-up to center fielder Carly McNary, but she could not hold onto the ball, and Lounge scored the game winning run for the second consecutive game.
Boston College's Amanda Booth walked to get on base in the seventh inning, and she advanced to second after Amy Tunstall grounded out to Welch. Macchi could not send her teammate home however, and she went down swinging to end the game.
Welch earned the win for Maryland to improve to 5-1 on the season. Thompson took the loss for Boston College and fell to 9-14.
