
Women's Tennis Falls To No. 34 UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - After dropping a 5-2 decision to Furman, the Eagles looked to get back on the winning track, but fell to the Lady Rebels of UNLV, 6-1 yesterday afternoon. The loss is the Eagles' fourth in a row and drops their overall record to 3-5. With the win, UNLV improves to 10-2.
UNLV started the day by taking two of three doubles matches for one team point. The duo of Dimitrova/Tempelfelde def. Lauren Cash and Brittany Delaney 8-4, while No. 56 Razina/Smith def. Gia Nafarrete and Lana Krasnopolsky 8-6. BC's number one tandem upset unbeaten No. 26 ranked Gantcheva/Nedeltcheva 8-1.
In singles play, Dasha Cherkasov fell at the No. 2 spot to 85th-ranked Kristina Nedeltcheva, 6-1, 6-1, improving Nedeltcheva's record to 10-1 in dual match play. Also falling in straight sets was Brittany Delaney who lost to Linda Tempelfelde at No. 5, 6-1, 6-3, and Sarah Svoboda, who fell to Alisa Razina at No. 6, 6-1, 6-4.
UNLV got its final two points in comeback fashion. Elena Gantcheva rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory over Lana Krasnopolsky at the No.1 position, while Alina Sullivan would take the first set over Nikol Dimitrova 6-1, but dropped the final two sets 6-1, 6-2, giving the Lady Rebels five of six singles wins.
BC is back in action on Monday, March 5 when they take on the University of San Diego at 10:00 a.m. PT.
