
Women's Tennis Defeats Columbia

CHESTNUT Hill, Mass. - After a surprising loss to Dartmouth, the women's tennis team got back on the winning track today by defeating the Lions of Columbia University 6-1 at the Flynn Recreation Complex. The win improves the Eagles record to 2-1 while Columbia falls to 0-1.
Sophomore Lana Krasnopolsy improved her singles record to 11-4 as she earned a 6-2, 7-5 decision at No. 1 singles. Classmate Alina Sullivan had no trouble with Columbia's Nina Suda as she would earn a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No. 4 position, and freshman Brittany Delaney earned her first collegiate win, defeating Lauren Shearer, 6-2, 6-2.
Sophomores Dasha Cherkasov and Lauren Cash would also earn victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions as BC would take five out of six of the singles positions.
On the doubles side, the No. 1 tandem of Cherkasov and Cash made quick work of Angela Hendry and Nina Suda shutting them out 8-0. Lana Krasnopolsky and Alina Sullivan, and Gia Nafarrete and Brittany Delaney had a little more trouble but both tandems would hold on as the Eagles would sweep the doubles to give them six out of seven points.
The Eagles next play on Sunday, February 4 at Brown University at 10:00 a.m.
