Six Boston College football players secured spots on the 37-member 2006 All-Atlantic Cost Conference Academic Football Team, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.
BC's selections included offensive guard Josh Beekman, who was a first-team All-America selection by the Associated Press, and All-ACC offensive tackle James Marten. Place-kicker Steve Aponavicius, who burst onto the national spotlight when he went from walk-on to starter in BC's nationally televised win over Virginia Tech, also made the team, one week after he was granted a full scholarship by Head Coach Jeff Jagodzinski. Eagle cornerback Larry Anam, offensive guard Ty Hall and defensive end Nick Larkin also were honored.
To be eligible for consideration, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
