
Women's Basketball Tops Holy Cross, 77-58

Freshman Stefanie Murphy notched her fifth double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds as Boston College (6-2) defeated Holy Cross, 77-58, on Tuesday night in front of 926 fans at Conte Forum.
Murphy went 8-for-15 from the field and 6-for-7 from the charity stripe then added two assists and two blocks in the win. Teammates Carolyn Swords went 6-for-9 from the field and finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore Ayla Brown added 12 points and seven rebounds.
BC led 40-28 at halftime as the Eagles went on an 18-6 run in the final seven minutes of action. Sophomore Mickel Picco notched two three's and Swords had 10 points to spark the run.
In the second half, Brown and Murphy kept the Crusaders from creeping back into the game. Brown had eight points and Murphy had 12 in the half. At 17:22, Murphy sparked the Eagles with the play of the game when she blocked a shot, grabbed the loose ball and then received a pass from Brittanny Johnson for a lay-up and a traditional three-point play. At that point, the Eagles extended the lead to 17 points, 47-30. A three-pointer from Johnson at the 6:47 mark in the half sealed the deal and gave the Eagles a 20-point lead.
Game Notes: The Eagles have won the last 10 meetings between the two teams ... Head Coach Cathy Ingles is now 13-2 vs. Holy Cross ... BC out rebounded Holy Cross, 47-25 ...
