
Women's Basketball Falls to Fairfield, 59-54

Bridgeport, CT -- Fairfield's Baendu Lowenthal and Sabra Wrice combined for 44 points to lead Fairfield past Boston College, 59-54, in a non-conference game at Harbor Yard Arena on Tuesday night. Boston College is now 7-3, while Fairfield improved to 6-3.
Lowenthal finished with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Wrice had 24 points and six rebounds. Lowenthal scored seven key points and came up with a number of key rebounds in the final five minutes of play. Wrice carried the Stags early in the half when she scored eight straight points to keep the Stags close at the start of the half.
BC was led by freshman Carolyn Swords who recorded her second double-double of the season with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman Stefanie Murphy notched 13 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
In the first half, BC held a one point lead, 26-25, as Swords carried the Eagles. She had 14 of the 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds but as a team BC shot only 33 percent from the field and committed 13 turnovers. Fairfield was led by Sabra Wrice with nine points and Baendu Lowenthal with 10.
