Ryan, Silva, Purvis Receive All-ACC First-Team Honors

Senior quarterback Matt Ryan, senior safety Jamie Silva and junior tight end Ryan Purvis were named to the All-ACC Football First Team, the league announced Monday.
Four other seniors received second-team awards, including running back Andre Callender, left tackle Gosder Cherilus, linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar and cornerback DeJuan Tribble. Junior wide receiver Brandon Robinson, junior defensive tackle Ron Brace and sophomore defensive end Alex Albright earned honorable mentions to wrap up the team's All-ACC honor roll.
Ryan earns the first-team award for the second consecutive year. Tribble was also named to the second team for the second year in a row. The 10 honorees are the most the team has received since joining the ACC in 2005.
In addition to Ryan and Purvis, the first-team offense is comprised of running backs Tashard Choice (Georgia Tech) and James Davis (Clemson), wide receivers Aaron Kelly (Clemson) and Kenny Moore (Wake Forest), tackles Barry Richardson (Clemson) and Andre Gardner (Georgia Tech), guards Brandon Albert (Virginia) and Chris McDuffie (Clemson) and center Steve Justice (Wake Forest).
The first-team defense included Silva and Kenny Phillips of Miami at safety, cornerbacks Alphonso Smith (Wake Forest) and Victor Harris (Virginia Tech), linebackers Erin Henderson (Maryland), Xavier Adibi (Virginia Tech) and Geno Hayes (Florida State), defensive tackles Vance Walker (Georgia Tech) and Dre Moore (Maryland) and defensive end Chris Long (Virginia) and Chris Ellie (Virginia Tech)
Place-kicker Travis Bell (Georgia Tech), punter Durant Brooks (Georgia Tech) and specialist Eddie Royal (Virginia Tech) were all named to the special teams first-team.
Boston College ended its regular season with a 10-2 record. It marks the second time in school history that the team has won 10 games during the regular season, dating back to 1940. The team will compete for its first ACC Championship in Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday, Dec. 1 against coastal division champion Virginia Tech. The game will be televised on ABC at 1 p.m.
