CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College men's tennis team defeated the Boston University Terriers, 6-1, on Friday to win the Boston College Invitational.
Senior Jason Sechrist and freshman Erik Kreutzer picked up wins in both singles and doubles play. At the No. 1 singles position, Sechrist defeated BU's Miron Nissim, 6-2, 6-3. Kreutzer defeated Giulio Gallorotti, 6-2, 7-5, at the No. 4 singles position. Sechrist and Kreutzer paired up to win their doubles match versus Jeff Chudacoff and Gallorotti, 8-0 at the No. 2 position for the Eagles.
Thomas Nolan continued his strong play this season, winning both his singles and doubles matches. Positioned at the No. 2 singles spot in the BC lineup, Nolan defeated Armir Mehmetti, 6-2, 6-2. Nolan teamed up with Alex Rastorgouev, winning the No. 1 doubles match, 8-6, against Nissim and Mehmetti.
Brian Locklear turned in a solid afternoon against the Terriers. The freshman was the fourth Eagle to win both his singles and doubles matches. Locklear won his singles match against Charles Weinstein, 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 5 position. Locklear then won his doubles match with fellow freshman Adam Davison, 8-5, at the No. 3 position.
BC's next match is in Princeton, N.J., to take part in the ITA Northeast Regionals from Oct. 18-23.
