Georgia Tech senior Stephanie Higgs had 16 points, six in the final three minutes of play to lead the Yellow Jackets past Boston College, 60-49, in an ACC game at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
The Eagles are now 11-9 overall and 1-5 in the ACC, while Georgia Tech improved to 12-8 and 3-3 in the ACC. Boston College's next game is on Sunday, Jan. 28 when the Eagles travel to Raleigh to take on North Carolina State (1 p.m.).
Boston College tied the game with 6:42 to play in the game on a jumper in the lane by Beth Egnell. The Eagles would then turn the ball over four times and shot 1-for-7 from the field as Georgia Tech pulled away behind Higgs.
The Yellow Jackets point guard hit a jumper in the lane at 3:20 for a 54-47 lead. She then sealed the win with four straight foul shots with under 1:21 to play. Along with Higgs, Chioma Nnamaka added 10 points and seven rebounds in the win, while Janie Mitchell added nine off the bench.
The Eagles were led by Kathrin Ress with 12 points and nine rebounds and senior Kindyll Dorsey added 11 points.
In the first half, Georgia Tech held a five point lead, 33-28. Boston College stayed close behind the play of Dorsey (11 first half points) and Ayla Brown (nine points).
Boston College was out-rebounded, 33-28 and committed 20 turnovers to Georgia Tech's seven.
