
Women's Basketball Falls to NC State

The Boston College women's team could not overcome a cold shooting night as the Eagles fell to North Carolina State, 58-40, at Conte Forum on the campus of Boston College. BC is now 10-6 overall and 0-2 in the ACC, while NC State improves to 12-5 and 1-1 in the ACC.
BC was led by freshman Ayla Brown with 11 points and senior Kindyll Dorsey with 10 points. Senior Kathrin Ress finished with eight points and 11 rebounds. NC State was led by Shayla Fields with a career-high 20 points, including five-for-eight from the three-point arc. Wolfpack junior Khadijah Whittington finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds, her sixth double-double of the season.
The Eagles could not overcome the nine point halftime lead. BC shot 7-for-27 in the second half and season-low 25 percent in the second half. The Eagles shot only another season low 31 percent from the field for the game.
The closest the Eagles got in the second half came at 16:52 when BC went on a 6-0 run sparked by a driving lay up by Dorsey. NC State went on the 7-0 run and the Wolfpack defense continued to smother the Eagles.
Boston College jumped out to a 7-2 lead behind four points from Brown in the first half. NC State took its first lead at 11:27 when Shayla Fields hit a three-pointer from the right corner, 12-11. The lead would change hands seven times in the next three minutes of action. Another three-pointer by Fields gave NC State a 19-17 lead at 8:26 to play in the half.
Four straight points by Whittington gave NC State a 23-17 with 4:38 to play. After a BC turnover, Whittington hit a jumper in the lane followed by a three-pointer by Fields and the Eagles were down, 28-17 at 3:16 mark. BC went cold for six minutes until Kindyll Dorsey hit a 3-pointer from the baseline and the Eagles were down, 31-20 at 1:22 in the half. Ress lay up at 1:08 to play cut the lead to nine points, 31-22, to end the first half.
Boston College will travel to Charlottesville to play ACC foe, Virginia on Sunday, January 14 at 2 p.m.
