Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan has been named ACC Co-Offensive Back of the Week (along with Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson), the league announced today.
Ryan completed 32-of-48 passes for a career-best 323 of the team's 408 total net yards with no interceptions in BC's 31-24 win over Central Michigan last Thursday. He suffered an ankle sprain in that game and is listed as day-to-day as the Eagles prepare for their home opener Saturday vs. the Clemson Tigers in Alumni Stadium.
Georgia Tech's Johnson caught seven passes for 111 yards and one touchdown in the Yellow Jackets' 14-10 loss to second-ranked Notre Dame. Other ACC Players of the Week included Wake Forest's Steve Vallos (offensive line), Florida State's Buster Davis (defensive line), Geno Hayes (defensive back) and Gary Cismesia (special teams) and North Carolina's Hakeem Nicks (rookie).
