Bronx, N.Y. - The Boston College Eagles women's cross country team finished second overall out of 17 teams with 58 points at the Iona Meet of Champions on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. The team finished behind the hosting Iona Gaels (45 points). Rounding out the top five schools were Cornell (61 points), Brown (124 points) and Toledo (174 points), who finished third, fourth, and fifth respectively. Five Eagles finished in the top 16 runners in the 6,000-meter race.
Boston College was led by sophomore Nichole Lister, who finished eighth overall with a time of 21:33 and senior Kristen Coon, who placed ninth, crossing in 21:36. Junior Nikki Tufts was tenth, finishing in 21:45, sophomore Mallory Champa placed 15th with a time of 22:05 and senior Jessica Flinn was 16th, crossing in 22:10.
Boston College women's cross country will race again next weekend at the New England Championships at 12:30 p.m. at Franklin Park in Boston.
