Sophomore forward Stephen Hepburn scored three minutes into the match for the game's only goal as Boston College defeated St. Francis College, 1-0, in non-conference action at Newton Campus Field on Tuesday.
Hepburn, who also scored the BC's first goal against Virginia last Friday, added his second goal in as many games at 2:39. He received a pass from Charlie Davies and beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation. Sophomore Jamie Melas also assisted on the score.
The Eagles (4-3, 1-1 ACC) out shot the visiting Terriers, 24-7.
St. Francis goalkeeper Chris Antonino recorded six saves, including a diving stab on Reuben Ayarna's shot to the top left corner of the goal in the 52nd minute.
Less than one minute later, forward Mor Avi Hanan just missed a goal, sending a shot wide right off a long pass from Jamen Amato.
Davies led all players with six shots. Ayarna and Hanan each registered four shots in the game.
BC junior Shane Boggis recorded his fifth start in goal. He earned his first shutout of the season and improves to 3-1-0.
St. Francis falls to 0-6 on the season.
Boston College travels to Durham, N.C., to resume conference play against Duke on Saturday, Sept. 23. Game time is 7 p.m.
