
Women's Cross Country Places Third

The Boston College Eagles women's cross country team opened the 2006 season hosting the Boston College Invitational at Franklin Park on Friday afternoon. The team placed third overall behind the Providence Friars and the Yale Bulldogs. Providence finished first with 29 points, Yale placed second with a score of 41 points, while BC was third with 51 points. Northeastern and Bentley finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Five Eagles finished in the top 14 runners in the 5,000-meter (3.1 mile) race. Boston College was led by sophomore Nichole Lister, who placed fifth overall with a time of 17:57. Senior Kristen Coon finished ninth, crossing in 18:03, while fellow senior Jessica Flinn was 11th with a time of 18:09. Junior Nikki Tufts placed 14th, crossing in 18:13, and freshman Brielle Chabot, making her collegiate debut, was 14th with a time of 18:38.
Boston College women's cross country will race again next weekend at the UMass Invitational on September 23 at 10:00 a.m.
