Kingston, R.I.. - Fresh off of their first win last weekend, the Eagles met a tough Towson University team and dropped a 3-0 decision in their first match at the Rhode Island Volleyball classic.
The Tigers, who improved to 3-0 all-time against the Eagles, won the match by scores of 30-23, 30-17 and 30-25. It was the first meeting between the two teams since the 2003 season.
BC kept it close in the early stages of the first game and were knotted at 10-10 just under half way through the contest. Trailing 18-12, the Eagles were able to cut the deficit to 20-16, but that was as close as they would get as the Tigers pulled away for a 30-23 win.
After a tough second game, BC kept the final game competitive. The Eagles trailed 24-21 while holding serve but could not get any closer as Towson held on for the sweep.
Leading the Tigers attack was sophomore outside hitter Maddie Haseltine with a match high 12 kills. Junior setter Kimberly Snider registered a match-high 30 assists, including the 2000th of her college career.
Junior Kelsey Johnson led the Eagles with 10 kills while sophomore Brittany Pierpont registered 27 assists in a losing effort.
The Eagles will look to bounce back as they next face Seton Hall University, Saturday, September 16, at 11:00 a.m. in Keaney Gymnasium.
