Boston College junior forward Charlie Davies is one of 25 players placed on a watch list for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy. The award is widely regarded as the country's most prestigious individual honor for men's collegiate soccer players.
The 25 players selected for the watch list are considered to be the top players entering the 2006 college season. A list of 15 semifinalists for the Hermann Trophy will be announced in early November, and three finalists will be selected later that month. The winner will be announced on Saturday, Dec. 2 in St. Louis, Mo.
Davies, who was recently named to Soccer America's Preseason All-America squad, returns to the field after missing the 2005 season because of injury. As a freshman in 2004, Davies played in all 20 games and recorded 22 points - a team-high nine goals and four assists. He earned freshman All-America honors from Soccer America and College Soccer News, NSCAA All-New England first-team recognition, and Big East Conference Rookie of the Year honors.
Boston College opens its 2006 season at home against Boston University on Friday, Aug. 25. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Newton Campus Soccer Field
