Football Holds Third Preseason Tune-up

Junior quarterback Matt Ryan completed 13-of-27 passes for 206 yards and one touchdown and sophomore quarterback Chris Crane completed 9-of-18 attempts for 79 yards to lead Boston College in team's situational scrimmage at Alumni Stadium on Thursday night.
On fourth down and 14 yards from the 48-yard line, Ryan completed a 42-yard pass to sophomore tight end Ryan Purvis, then hit Clarence Megwa on the ensuing play for a 10-yard pass and one of two touchdowns scored on the evening.
Junior running back L.V. Whitworth broke free for a 79-yard rushing touchdown to account for the second touchdown. Whitworth led all running backs with 12 rushes for 100 yards and led all receivers with three receptions for 45 yards. Sophomore A.J. Brooks ran 12 times for 42 yards.
Purvis registered 46 yards on two receptions while fellow tight end Trey Koziol caught two passes for 33 yards. Kevin Challenger, Rich Gunnell, Jeff Smith, Justin Jarvis and Megwa caught two passes apiece.
Junior place kicker Ryan Ohliger hit four-of-seven field goal attempts, connecting from distances of 23, 25, 26 and 32 yards.
Defensively, Marty Bowman tallied a scrimmage-high eight tackles, while Paul Anderson was credited with five tackles. Senior Jolonn Dunbar and junior B.J. Raji each recorded two tackles for loss and one sack. Dunbar also recorded an interception during the scrimmage.
