Baseball's Shawn McGill Named ACC Player of the Week

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College catcher Shawn McGill was tabbed ACC Baseball Player of the Week in an announcement made by the league office today.
Over the past week, McGill hit .500 (9 for 18) including five RBIs and two runs scored. He had back-to-back three hit performances during the weekend, guiding the Eagles to two wins over Maryland. He added two hits and two runs scored in a non-conference triumph over Dartmouth on Thursday.
The senior backstop currently holds a 14-game hitting streak and has been raking at a .474 (27 for 57) clip over that span. McGill was 7 for 11 at the plate from April 28-30, leading the Eagles to two wins over No. 5 Georgia Tech. He added a four-hit game and a home run in the opening round Beanpot win over UMass on April 18.
For the season, McGill is hitting .332 with three home runs and is tied for the team lead with 37 RBI's.
BC will close the season with a three-game series against No. 1 ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill beginning Thurdsday, May 18.
