Women's Rowing Concludes Season with Eastern Sprints

CAMDEN, N.J. - The Boston College women's rowing team wrapped up their season on Sunday afternoon, competing in the Eastern Sprints for the second time in three seasons. Rowing on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J., the Eagles finished 13th overall in a field of 16 schools.
BC turned in their best performance with a fourth-place finish in the third heat of the novice eight race. The novice eight crew finished fifth in the six-team field of the petite final, besting Boston University by 2.854 seconds. The Eagles clocked in at 7 minutes 45.480 seconds in the petite final, finishing 0.301 seconds after fourth-place Rutgers (7:45.179). Racing against five crews in the third preliminary heat, BC (7:44.097) finished ahead of Pennsylvania (7:50.156) and George Washington (8:09.754).
The Eagles finished third in the varsity eight's third level final, posting a time of 7:42.645. BC raced past Georgetown (7:45.479) by 2.834 seconds. Navy (7:32.460) and Rutgers (7:37.017) finished first and second, respectively.
The Eagles finished sixth in the third preliminary heat of the varsity eight race. BC posted a time of 7:42.074 in the six-team field, finishing 8.122 seconds behind Navy (7:33.952). Yale (7:07.404) took first place in the third heat, and Princeton (6:50.188) captured first place in the event's final.
BC raced to a sixth-place finish in the petite final of the second varsity eight after finishing fourth in a five-crew preliminary heat. In the petite final, Northeastern (7:22.427) captured first place and Syracuse finished second (7:27.384). The Eagles clocked in at 7:43.607 in the petite final's six-team field.
In the novice four race, BC finished sixth and posted a time of 9:38.472. Northeastern (8:31.175) raced to a first-place finish, as Princeton (8:35.771), Georgetown (8:41.460), M.I.T. (9:05.695) and Syracuse (9:19.484) rounded out the top five.
The Eagles finished fourth in their preliminary heat of the third varsity four "A" race, clocking in at 8:46.217. BC bested Columbia (9:09.330) by 23.113 seconds. In the event's petite final, the Eagles finished seventh in the seven-crew field. Princeton (8:17.556) raced to a first-place finish in the event.
BC finished second to Boston University in the petite final of the third varsity four "B" race. BU clocked in at 8:50.142, and the Eagles finished the race in 9:13.335. BC raced to a fourth-place finish in their four-crew preliminary heat.
Sunday's Eastern Sprints marked the Eagles' final race of the season.
