Basketball Holds Annual Roundball Club Banquet

Senior forward Craig Smith earned team MVP honors and senior guard Louis Hinnant captured the Frank Power Memorial Award, highlighting the program's year-end Roundball Club Banquet. The event was held at the Newton Marriott on Sunday, April 30.
Smith earned All-ACC first-team honors and Associated Press All-America third-team honors after leading the Eagles in both scoring (17.6 ppg) and rebounding (9.4 ppg). The 6-foot-7-inch forward also gained Division I District 1 all-star honors from both the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the United States Basketball Writers Association.
Smith also claimed the team's Top Rebounder award.
Hinnant averaged 7.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and a team-high 4.6 assists per game this past winter. He led all Atlantic Coast Conference players with a 2.06 assist-turnover ratio. The Oxon Hill, Md., resident earned All-Tournament second-team honors at the ACC Tournament after averaging 9.0 points 7.3 assists per game in the Eagles' three tournament contests.
In addition to Smith and Hinnant, nine other individuals were recognized at the banquet. Sophomore Sean Williams captured Defensive MVP honors; senior Ted Dunlap earned the team's Academic Award; sophomore John Oates and junior Sean Marshall shared Most Improved Player honors; junior Jared Dudley took home the Coaches' Award; seniors Kelly Carroll, Ryan Farnan and Nick Morteo shared the Mary Kay Waldron Managers' Award; and freshman Tyrese Rice captured the Sixth Man accolade.
Boston College finished the 2005-06 season with a 28-8 mark, including an 11-5 record in Atlantic Coast Conference action. BC earned its fifth NCAA Tournament bid in the last six years, defeating Pacific and Montana to advance to the Sweet 16.
The 2006-07 Eagles will feature three returning starters - Dudley, Marshall and Oates.
