MIAMI, Fla. - The Boston College softball team (6-7) swept their doubleheader with Campbell and Florida International on Tuesday, March 8 in Miami, Fla. The Eagles opened the doubleheader with a 10-2 win over Campbell and followed it up with a 4-3 victory over Florida International.
Against Campbell the Eagles started off with a run in the first when Ashley Obrest reached first on a fielder's choice, driving in Kristin Allain.
Boston College opened up the scoring in the second inning, scoring four runs. Amanda Booth doubled to right field, driving in Elena Ferrero and Britney Thompson singled to right field, driving in Booth. Jenna Macchi singled to centerfield, driving in Carley McNary. Amanda Brooks scored on a fielding error to round out the Eagles second inning scoring.
McNary drove in Obrest in the top of the third inning, and Brooks drove in Ferrero on the next hit. Thompson doubled to right center, driving in Brooks, McNary and Booth.
Britney Thompson pitched four innings, earning her fourth win of the season. Thompson collected four strikeouts and allowed one run in six hits. Erin Corsini pitched the final inning allowing one run and one hit.
Against Florida International the Eagles opened the top of the first innings with two runs. Ferrero collected two RBI, driving in Macchi and Allain.
Florida International took the 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third, but the Eagles came back in the seventh inning. Obrest singled to center field, driving in Macchi and Booth singled to right field to drive in Obrest for the winning run.
Savana Lloyd pitched seven innings for the Eagles, allowing three runs on three hits.
