Softball Falls, 9-3, to Auburn

BOCA RATON, Fla. - On day two of the Florida Atlantic Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla., the Eagles took on Auburn and fell 9-3. The Eagles now stand at 3-5 on the season.
Jenna Macchi, Renee Ramos and Elena Ferrero scored the three runs for the Eagles.
After allowing one run in the first inning, Boston College held Auburn scoreless through the second, third and fourth innings. The Eagles knotted the game at one in the second inning when Elena Ferrero hit a homerun -- her second of the season.
The score remained tied through the next three innings, until the Tigers scored three runs in the fifth inning, taking the 5-1 lead. The Eagles responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Macchi scored when Ashley Obrest singled to right field. Ferrero singled down the left field line to drive in Renee Ramos.
Auburn scored four more runs at the top of the seventh inning to make the final score 9-3.
Kristen Allain was 2-for-3, while Ferrero was 2-for-4 and Macchi was 2-for-4 against Auburn.
The game against Auburn was the first in a double-header with Florida Atlantic on March, 5.
The Eagles compete again on Tuesday, March 7 in a double-header against St. John's and Central Florida in Orlando, Fla. The Eagles will play St. John's at 1:00 and Central Florida at 5:00.
