Tallahassee, Fla. - The Boston College softball team (10-11, 1-5 ACC) fell, 7-5, to Florida State (24-15, 3-3 ACC) on Sunday, March 26 in Tallahassee, Fla. Angela Pandolfo was 3-2 and Jenna Macchi was 2-4 for the Eagles.
The Eagles went up by one run in the first inning when Jenna Macchi singled to right field to drive in Angela Pandolfo.
Boston College extended its lead by three runs in the second inning when Pandolfo singled to left center field to drive in the second run of the game. Kimmy Hopkin scored on a wild pitch to put the Eagles on top, 3-0.
Florida State got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with a double to left field. The Seminoles took the 4-3 lead in the third inning with three runs. Melissa Wood drove in two runs and Kim Hoffer drove in the third to put the Seminoles on top, 4-3.
In the fourth inning Florida State scored two runs on two hits to extend their lead to thre runs. In the top of the fifth inning however, the Eagles scored two runs to cut the lead to one. Renee Ramos singled through the right side to drive in Pandolfo. Elena Ferrero hit a single to drive in Kristin Allain.
Florida State scored their final run in the sixth inning.
Britney Thompson pitched 2.2 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits. Savana Lloyd pitched 1.1 innings and Elena Ferrero closed the game for the Eagles, striking out one batter.
The Eagles host their home opening on Tuesday, March 28th in a doubleheader with Sacred Heart at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
