Baseball Drops Game Two To NC State 12-7

Raleigh, N.C. - North Carlolina State out-slugged Boston College in game two of a three-game weekend series, winning 12-7 in Raleigh, N.C.
BC got to NC State starter Eric Surkamp in the top of the second when Shawn McGill doubled to start the inning. Jett Ruiz advanced McGill to second on a sacrifice bunt before he was driven in by a Ryan Hutchinson sac fly.
The Wolfpack retaliated for five runs in the inning off starter Nate Jeanes. Matt Mangini had an RBI on an infield single and Jonathan Diaz followed with a two-RBI double. Two sacrifice flies by Matt Camp and Ramon Corona made the score 5-1.
In the top of the third, the Eagles countered, loading the bases on three walks and scoring a run when Eric Campbell's ensuing walk scored a run. McGill hit a sac fly to make the score 5-3, but a double play ended the inning for the Eagles.
Brian Aragon got one back for NC State in the bottom of the fourth on a fielder's choice RBI, but again, the Eagles responded in the top of the fifth as Campbell drove in Jared McGuire who reached on a double.
The offense continued in the bottom of the fifth for NC State, scoring four more runs, three of which came on a bases clearing double by Aaron Bates to give the Wolfpack a 10-4 lead.
The Eagles were resilient, battling back in the sixth inning for two more when Johnny Ayers added a key two-out, two-RBI single, reaching second on a throwing error. Dave Preziosi would drive in Ayers to make the score 10-7.
NC State added two insurance runs to make the final 12-7.
BC will finish the series tomorrow at 1 p.m..
