Baseball Begins ACC Slate This Weekend Against NC State

Raleigh, N.C. - Off to its best start in nearly 10 seasons, the Boston College baseball team will play its first-ever ACC series against North Carolina State in Raleigh this weekend.
The Eagles are currently 9-3 on the year, including two wins over the preseason No. 2 ranked team in the Big East, Pittsburgh.
As a team, BC is hitting at a .305 clip, which ties them with Miami for sixth in the conference. The Eagles lead the ACC in stolen bases with 32 and have been succesful on 86 percent of its attempts.
Indivdaully, outfielder Johnny Ayers is third in the league in hitting with a .487 batting average, and fourth in the league in on-base percentage at .545. Jett Ruiz is tied for third in the conference in doubles with five.
On the mound, Terry Doyle is 2-0 with a 2.18 ERA and is second in the league in innings pitched, averaging 6.89 a game. Opponents are hitting a microscopic .116 off reliever Kevin Boggan who has added three saves out of the bullpen.
North Carolina State was recently swept in a three-game series by UCLA, but remains in the NCBWA and USA Today Top 25 polls at No. 22 and 24 respectively. The Wolfpack are led by Matt Mangini who is currently tops in the confernce in hitting (.539), on-base percentage (.600) and slugging percentage (.855).
Game times this weekend are 4 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
