Senior offensive lineman Josh Beekman was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America second-team on Thursday. The nation's oldest All-America team was announced live on ESPN's The Home Depot Football Awards show on Thursday evening.
A first-team All-ACC selection this season, Beekman, a 6-1, 321-pound senior, started nine games at guard and three games at center for the 23rd-ranked Eagles. A three-year starter, and a second-team All-ACC selection in 2005, Beekman leads a balanced Boston College offense that is second in the ACC averaging 359.0 yards and 26.1 points per game.
Beekman was awarded the Jacobs Blocking Trophy this season, as the ACC's top lineman. The senior co-captain was also honored with the Scanlan Trophy, the highest honor bestowed upon a Boston College football player. The Scanlan Award is given to a senior football player who best exemplifies the ideals of scholar, athlete, gentleman and friend.
The Amsterdam, N.Y. native has started 36 straight games and 38 for his career and was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week following the Virginia Tech game on Oct. 12 and the Duke contest on Nov. 11.
