The Boston College women's basketball team captured an 81-55 victory over non-conference foe Colgate (1-10) at Conte Forum.
The Eagles improved to 9-3 and will have seven days off before they host Harvard University on Thursday, Dec. 28 at 4 p.m. in Conte Forum.
Senior center Kathrin Ress led Boston College with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Ress now has five double-doubles this season and eight in her career. She moves into 15th place on the BC all-time scoring and rebound list with 1,043 points and 528 boards.
Boston College also had two freshmen reach double figures as Beth Egnell had 13 points, four rebounds and five assists and Mickel Picco added 13 points and two assists.
The Eagles held a 34-25 lead at the half after shooting 54 percent from the field. Boston College opened the game up in the second half with a 15-3 run to take a 52-30 lead at the 13:36 mark. Sarah Marshall scored five points, had two steals and two rebounds in the 15 point run, while Egnell added four points.
The Raiders could not put together a consistent run to cut into the lead as they turned the ball over eight times in the last 12 minutes.
BC's 47 second half points was the most points scored this season in a half since November 17 in a win over North Carolina Central. The Eagles shot 50.8 from the field for the game and had a season high 13 steals.
Game Notes: Freshman Mickel Picco finished with 13 points and played a career-high 17 minutes ... Senior Sarah Marshall had five points and is one point away from 500 career points. She also had a season high four steals ... The Eagles out-rebounded Colgate, 40-27. It is the 10th time in 12 games BC has won the battle of the boards ... Ress hit her second 3-pointer of the season. She is now 2-for-4 from the arc.
